FLORENCE

Santa Reparata is the ancient cathedral of Florence on whose site Santa Maria del Fiore was erected starting in 1296. Thanks to an excavation campaign that began in 1966 and culminated between 1971 and 1972, it was possible to reconstruct the plan of the building and to make some interesting finds. Today you can visit the excavations by entering from the right aisle of the Cathedral. (see Santa Reparata on Wikipedia).
The Firm was involved, by the Technical Office of the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore, in the technical consultancy and relative supervision of the construction site exclusively as regards both the raised floor and the new Linoleum finish of the flooring.
The Client had the need to rearrange the flooring both in the exhibition part and in the purely religious part where the actual state of the existing flooring had deteriorated over time and presented an imperfect flatness of the surface. By virtue of the historical constraints present on the site, we recommended the use of a flooring made with a raised screed. The particular dry assembly does not alter the present historical situation and allows the lack of flatness of the original flooring to be managed directly with the use of the supporting structure composed of galvanized steel columns. Once the installation of the raised screed was completed, the new surface finish in Linoleum sheets was laid. The latter was also used for the purely exhibition part.
